“HELPING patients to stop spinning out of control”
According to the National Institute of Health, 90% if all causes of dizziness and imbalance can be found after a thorough and specialized evaluation. The Balance Institute can provide that evaluation for you with a simple Physician’s referral.
Dizziness is a subjective term. Symptoms may last for minutes to hours and even days.
Dizziness is prevalent, with estimates ranging from 1.8% in young adults to more than 30% in the elderly. It is the primary reason for an office visit in the over 75 age group. An estimated 20% of the general population is affected by a vestibular disorder.
Vestibular Rehabilitation has demonstrated consistently a reduced feeling of dizziness and imbalance. It is noted to decrease fall risks, improve mobility, increase safety and independence and eliminate positional vertigo. Physical Therapists with specialized vestibular training will tailor an individualized program for each patient specific to the findings identified from the evaluation and diagnostics performed. Studies demonstrate a customized rehab program for patient results in an 85% resolution of symptoms. Through vestibular rehabilitation a patient can improve their function and reduce their risk of falling.
