VESTIBULAR REHAB had been shown to be the MOST EFFECTIVE treatment for most balance and dizziness impairments. The competency certified vestibular therapist will develop an individualized plan of care based on the diagnosis of your symptoms. The treatment typically consists of a thorough evaluation of your balance systems. This identifies the muscular, neurologic, vestibular (ears), proprioceptive, and visual systems that are weak. From this assessment, a specific exercise program is developed that combines head, body and visual movements. In most cases, balance and dizzy symptoms improve if these exercises are performed regularly and correctly. It is not unusual for you to return for follow up visits 1-2x per week with your physical therapist until compensation and habituation are complete and optimal balance function has been attained.
